Build A Simple Marketing Plan Around One Customer Question
WISELIVN BUSINESS GUIDES · MARKETING
A practical ecommerce marketing plan does not need to begin with every channel. Start with one customer question, answer it well, and give the reader a relevant next step.
Choose a question close to the buying decision
Use questions from genuine conversations, search enquiries or support requests. For a physical product, a question might concern fit, delivery or comparison with an alternative. For a planning tool, it might be “How do I know whether next week’s bills are covered?” Choose a question you can answer accurately and concretely.
Match the content to the question
A short demonstration suits a process. A checklist suits a repeatable review. A comparison needs consistent criteria and evidence. Avoid using a motivational slogan where the customer needs specifications or a worked example. Make the first paragraph answer the question directly, then explain the reasoning and limits.
Choose one next step
The next step should continue the task. A profitability explanation can lead to a calculator. A cash-timing article can lead to a beginner lesson. Do not send every reader to a catalogue or ask for a purchase, subscription, follow and booking in the same paragraph. You can offer a supporting link where it genuinely helps the reader.
Define what would count as useful progress
Choose a primary measure before publishing: relevant visits, completed tool uses, course enrolments or qualified enquiries. Keep views and completed actions distinct. With a small audience, examine actual comments and counts alongside percentages. Use consistent campaign links for external placements without adding tracking tags to internal links unnecessarily.
Run a small learning cycle
Publish the answer in one main format. Adapt it into a short social post that points to the complete explanation. Review whether visitors reached the intended page and found the next step. Change one major element at a time, such as the opening question or destination label, and record what changed. Treat early results as evidence to learn from, not a forecast of future sales.
